Create, update, and delete content types and content items; create content variations and property groups; create or update display templates; update drafts; and publish a specified version immediately or on a schedule. Content-type deletes and breaking updates have server-side integrity checks.

04 · Authentication and permissions

Remote OAuth uses Opti ID to select an Opal instance. The user needs Opal enabled, at least one linked CMS SaaS instance, and access to both Opal and that CMS; the MCP inherits existing account permissions and the session expires and requires reauthentication.

05 · Monitoring, approval, and recovery

Content-type deletion fails while instances or references still use the type, and breaking content-type updates fail. Content updates create or modify drafts, but `cms_publish_content_item` can make a chosen version live immediately or later. BYO-UI should preview and confirm publish/delete operations and surface any CMS approval status.

06 · Limits and caveats

Verified only for CMS SaaS connected through Opal, not Web Experimentation, Feature Experimentation, CMS PaaS, or the rest of Optimizely One. It requires Opti ID, Opal enablement, linked-instance access, a remote-MCP client, and periodic OAuth reauthentication.
