The original build-versus-buy answer
The essay explains why cheaper AI-assisted interface development does not erase the value of enterprise SaaS. Data models, integrations, identity, permissions, domain logic, reliable actions, and operating history remain expensive to reproduce and maintain.
Its practical recommendation is to buy the foundation that is expensive to get wrong, then build the role-specific interface, analysis, workflow, or agent that makes that foundation more useful.
That is not a threat to SaaS. It is the next stage of SaaS.
